Players, Coaches and Parents all respectfully held a minutes silence prior to kick off and our girls wore their poppies with pride during our game across Remembrance Weekend.
Our last game Vs Kiveton was a good experience as our players were relaxed on the ball and were able to transfer some of the skills they have been working on in training into a match day scenario and we hoped this would be the case again.
Starting with Boden in goal and Captain Laiya, we were sharp from the kick off and wanted to win every ball. When in possession, we looked comfortable and made some great decisions when passing the ball around.
It was a competitive game throughout and Kiveton have come on and developed massively from the team we played a few weeks ago and well done to the players and coaches.
It was end to end stuff at times but Boden had a great 1st half in goal, coming off her line to clear the ball and not afraid to face up when players were taking a shot, receiving numerous rounds of applause from all the supporters on the side line.
As we headed towards half time, Charnock were on the front foot and with Eryn, Harla, Scarlett and Laiya moving the ball around and attacking defenders at every opportunity, we couldn't ask for anymore from everyone.
2nd half, and keen to try out her new goalkeeper gloves, Scarlett went in goal and played really well, saving a few with her feet and getting her gloves muddy with a couple of saves near to her post.
As the game went on, there were a few tired legs but everyone was keen to play their part this morning.
Every week, picking player of the game is so difficult because everyone brings their own qualities, experience and enthusiasm but just edging it this week was Leonie and Neve.
Leonie works hard in training and sometimes gets slightly overwhelmed during matches but this week, she brought her training play mindset to the pitch and it showed. She was not scared to get stuck in with a tackle, found some great positioning and even pulled off a few tricks which we know she can do.
Neve can also be a little quiet during games but is bursting with great skills and we started to see some of these come through during the game. She covered plenty of grass during the game and managed to get some great shots on goal but more importantly, her confidence levels took a big step forward which was pleasing to see and we hope to see more as the season progresses.....Well done to everyone.
Coaching the girls is a rewarding task when we can see them enjoying themselves and although there may be some tough games ahead, they will take them in their stride and will do their very best and so we can't ask anymore from them.
Thanks to the parents again for your positive support, it really does help.
Thank you also to Kiveton for a great game (and for the chocolate afterwards) and good luck with your season.
