Charnock Girls U11 Vs Brunsmeer Athletic AFC U11
We welcomed Brunsmeer to Springs Academy for our final game of the year. Down to a bare 7 players against a strong Brunsmeer team this was going to be a tough challenge for the team, especially in the cold and foggy conditions.
From the start the players worked really hard and didn’t give Brunsmeer time on the ball, the work rate from every player was superb. We started with Sophia in goal and as usual it was a strong goalkeeping display from her, she made a couple of great saves but also organised her defenders really well. Second half Kate took over in goal with a great performance, the distance on her kicks from hands is really improving every game too.
In defence we had Lottie, Isabelle and Maisie, it was another great performance from our defenders, all three were very strong in any challenges and tracked players off the ball. Their distribution from the back is getting better every week and all are comfortable to move up and support attacks when required.
Midfield, we had Poppy and Charlotte for the first half, as usual Poppy didn’t stop running all game, supporting our defence and attack. Charlotte played the first half in midfield and caused Brunsmeer some real problems when she ran with the ball. Sophia played in midfield for the second half and made some great runs down the wings with the ball.
In attack we had Kate for the first half and Charlotte for the second half. Kate held the ball up well and tried to bring other players into the attack. Charlotte continued to make runs with the ball and was unlucky not to score a couple of goals with the post denying her a goal with her left foot.
Overall, it was a fantastic performance from the team and we can really see the players incorporating skills and techniques from training into matches. They have become a difficult team to play against, strong and persistent with their challenges and closing down players quickly. The Brunsmeer coach commented on how much the team had improved from our last match against them
Well done everyone, your hard work and brilliant attitude is really making a big difference every week.
Have a great Christmas and New Year.
