Charnock Girls U11 Purple (0) v Crosspool Girls U11 (12) - Shield Game
On word sums up this mornings game...... Wet!
Our 1st game in the Shield and you would have thought it was the middle of winter with the non-stop rain....on a positive though, the pitch was perfect. Today we were up against Crosspool juniors, another team that have been together for 3 years and so from the off, we knew it was going to be a tough game.
As a coaching group, me, Adam, Simon and Sharon have been working with the girls on finding space, playing out wide, passing and moving and this is what we have been looking for from the girls in these recent games. We can see it is sinking in more and they are trying to play that way and a few times today we saw some lovely passes out wide by Nieva to Lola. We even managed a few bits of play in the opponents half, leading to a couple of shots on goal which are also major positives. Our girls improvement can be seen each game, and going forward today was our best game so far .
Speaking to their coach, it is a familiar conversation that the 1st year with new teams is always tough as you are finding your way against teams that have had that little bit longer together. The positve signs are there and so we keep going in the right direction.
A big thank you the parents that helped set up today in the awful weather, Thank you also to the girls I know it was hard out there and the conditions were horrendous, but you kept going and hopefully the weather will improve like we are.
Hope everyone has warmed up and dried off and fingers crossed the weather is drier from now on. See you all Tuesday where we will continue to improve and move forward.
