Dronfield Girls U11 Red v Charnock Girls U11 Purple
So, in early July when we were allowed back to train we started to set up our new U11s team. For the first few weeks we only had 4 players and at times it looked bleak, but with numerous Facebook posts and parents sharing and asking friends, we made it to today where our new U11 Purple’s played their first friendly against Dronfield Girls U11 Reds.
It was unfortunate that on the eve of the game we were dealt a blow that Kate (our goal keeper) and Charlotte couldn’t play so we were down to 7 players.
The girls arrived, all smiling and looking good in their Charnock shirts, for warm up, and Sophia and Leonie stepped forward to share a half each in goal. My first choice as captain for today’s game was Eden.
Sophia – excellent goalkeeping in the first half and some great defending and forward runs in the second half.
Leonie – covered the middle of the park well, got stuck in and second half really good in goal
Maise – good movement around the pitch
Grace – good cover at the back and continued to play after a slight knock
Lola – good engine, never stopped, some great forward runs with the ball
Neiva – kept position well, got stuck in, played a number of positions well
Eden – covered all of the pitch, blocks at the back, and strong runs with the ball
Thank you to Dronfield Reds for a warm welcome and a great game, the girls never gave in and smiled all the way through.
See you all Tuesday, rest those legs
