Barnsley Women U9s v Charnock Girls U9s
8th February 2020, Kick Off 10am
Dorothy Hyman Stadium
After our break last week and a 35 minute drive to Barnsley the girls were ready for today's game. In training the last 2 weeks we have been working on playing out from the back so starting with Kate playing it out wide then playing forward from there. The girls have really taken to this and Kate’s distribution is improving all the time with the girls becoming more confident on the ball.
In today's game we had 6 players and I made the decision to go 6v6 no subs to give the girls more game time. The girls all gave 100% and you can see the improvements each week which is really pleasing as a coach, and working on things at such a young age will reap the rewards as they move on up the age groups.
Today's Captain was Holly, she is really coming on as a player and is becoming more and more confident on the ball, some great runs with the ball today.
Charlotte S – again today a rock at the back, reading the game well, and some great footwork on the ball going forward.
Charlotte H – becoming a great central player, breaking up play and moving the ball forward.
Daisy L – strong and so confident for her age, going forward is becoming a real threat and also covers a lot of the pitch and gets stuck in.
Olivia S – really confident on the ball, Olivia moves the ball forward well and has some great footwork and her striking of the ball is getting better each week.
Kate was this week's Player of the Match as I said earlier we have been working on playing out from the back. Kate is a big part of this as the ball starts with the keeper and each week Kate is getting more confident in passing the ball and more confident in the net. This is a really hard position for a young player and Kate has taken this on and is growing stronger each game, and with some more keeper specific training will grow into the role.
Next week we have our Bowling fun on Saturday morning.
Also please bring the white shirts back on Tuesday at training so I can hand them back.
